  • The Adami Tulu Pesticide Processing Plant of the Chemical Industry Corporation submitted its half-year performance report for the 2016 fiscal year on 23/05/2016 E.C. On that day, both the Workers and Management of the factory were present. The manager of the factory, Mr. Arega Bedada, presented the half-year plan performance report for the 2016 E.C fiscal year. Following the presentation, the employees raised questions, which were then discussed, and the program was successfully completed.

FACTORY PROFILE AND LOCATION


Brief Profile of APPF


  • Adami Tulu Pesticides Processing Factory is a public enterprise engaged in processing and marketing of pesticides and related activities necessary for the attainment of its purposes.


  • The Project pre-feasibility and feasibility study was conducted by the former GDR experts in collaboration with national counterparts of the ex-National Chemical Corporation in-house experts and completed in Nov, 1990.


  • Thereafter, a contract was signed with an Italian supplier for machinery and technology, ENDECO, in July 1990. Two years after the signing of the contract construction work started in Feb. 1993. The project commissioning was completed in Nov, 1997.


  • After working as a project for three years, Adamitulu pesticides processing factory (APPF) became fully operational in 2000.


  • Currently the factory has four plats, a liquid pesticides formulation plat with annual production capacity of 4,528,302 litter in three shifts and 250 working days. The liquid formulation plant is used to formulate Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC) and Ultralow volume (ULV) liquid pesticide formulations. It has also Dustable and wettable powder pesticide formulations plant with annual production capacity of 2,400,000 kg dust and 2,400,000 kg wettable powder pesticides on working in three shifts and 250 working days. The factory has also a diatomote micronization plant where raw diatomite mined around 10 to 15 km radius of the factory is moistured dried, milled and micronized to required particle size. The diatomite plant has annual production capacity of 2,100,000 kg. In 2015, the factory has installed a 2,4-D 72% SL dimethylamine salt herbicide repacking unit 7km away from Batu town in the western direction on the high way towards Butajira town. The 2,4-D repacking plant has annual production capacity of 2,500,000 litter working in one shift and 250 working days.


  • The major products of the factory are Insecticides, Fungicides, Herbicides and acaricide/Ectoparasiticide products. The factory has more than 22 pesticide formulations commonly used in Ethiopia agricultural and public health sectors.

    The factory is engaged in producing strategic products meeting FAO ang WHO standards for its customers from the health and agriculture sectors.

    The factory has been incorporated under chemical industry corporation (CIC) by the Council of Ministers Regulation No. 416/2017.


  • CIC-APPF is Located 165 km South West of Addis Ababa near to Batu Town in the Regional State of Oromia
